Precious (Isaiah 43:4)

Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life.
Isaiah 43:4

There is a paradox in theoretical physics associated with ‘constants’ in that we can measure them but have no idea why they take their values. Another ‘constant’ exists in the Bible, one that cannot even be measured! And that is Christ’s love for you. Your worth is not what man says it is, because, in God’s eyes, you are always precious. It does not matter who you are or what you have done, you are still precious to Him, and He loves you!

Everlasting love and unfailing kindness

I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.
Jeremiah 31:3

If the creator of the universe declares that you are precious to him, who can claim otherwise? The world we live in weighs a person’s worth based on material wealth. But it is not that way with the God of the Bible, in his eyes your social class, level of education or material wealth does not matter. The lie of personal worthlessness stabs at the heart of the truth of God’s Word. The Bible tells us that God so treasured us that he gave his one and only Son as a ransom for us (John 3:16). If God would pay so high a price with his own Son’s precious life, surely he must love us; surely we must be worth something in His eyes!

I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.
Jeremiah 31:3

Sparrows and Pennies

In the days when Jesus was on this earth, sparrows sold for two coins of very small value. Jesus used sparrows in stunning contrast (Luke 12:6-7) when he drew our attention to these birds, saying though they are considered to be of minuscule value, even they are not forgotten by him. When it comes to us, his children, God knows every detail of our lives, that is why he said that the “very hairs of our heads are numbered” (Luke 12:7).

You are not unloved or worthless, you are precious to God!
